Mini Snippets of Information

From here on in the Post Counts and Kudos will only show in the profiles.

So even though the Kudos do not show in the mini profiles still click to give a Kudos to a good post or to support a member's trials and tribulations.  Or just because you think that member deserves one.

This is to stop the mini profiles being too long.

New fun threads added to the Games Forum.

I've just created a portal page.  I'm still playing with it but check it out so far.

I've made a couple of changes on here.

1)  I've turned the friends/foes on just in case anyone wants to use it.  - Go to a friends profile and click to friend.

2)  I noticed that on the memberlist it was the www image that showed in there beside our names.  So I swapped the images for "WWW" and "Forum" over so that everyone's Forum links show for others to find and follow you to your boards.

You will also notice that the forum image now shows in your posts and not the www image but it still leads to your boards.

I've activated Visitor Messages on the profiles.  Or as the url of the page says, A Wall.

This will show up as another tag entitled "Visitor Messages"

It's a page where either you as the owner of the profile or visitors can leave a message.

To post a message click on "New Post" - This will bring up a page that looks exactly like a new topic post page in a board forum.

Type you message in and send as if you are sending an ordinary topic.

There is no edit button but there are delete and hide buttons.  If you click on hide it seems to be the same as if you have deleted it.  There is no button to show it again.

You also can't reply to a message left.

I've activated the minus points, but this is just in fun.  It shows up as a crying smilie in posts at the moment but that image might change.

On my Yuku board when Dougie gets cheeky I give him a minus point.  Then when he gets to -10 I put him in the dog house for a few days.  The dog house is just an image that I put in his mini profile for a few days.

As I say, this is done in good fun and it's only usually dougie that gets the naughty points.

For those of us that are going to use "Visitor Messages" as in Your "Wall" I have added a new contact field which shows at the bottom of our posts.

You will need to go to your wall and pick up the direct url for it to add to the contact field.

Click to edit your contact field part of your profile and you will find this new link area at the bottom of that page.

I thought it might be yet another fun thing to play with.

As you can see I created a new forum for Information and Introductions.

There were a couple of reasons I did this.

1)  The Coffee Break forum was getting a bit full with my information posts.

2)  I know that we have all welcomed each other already, but sometimes an introduction thread can also be used to leave a message for a specific person that wont get lost in the Monthly chatter.

What I did to create the separate introduction threads was to split the original Introduction thread into everyone's various hellos.  If you haven't already got an introduction thread but would like one, then just create your own new topic in that forum.

I've set up a fun award system. You might notice them already in a couple of people's mini profiles.

You wont know what you have done to be awarded one though. It/they will just appear.

Sandy I am going to copy you with the introduction thread as mine is kinda lost in between the general posts at the moment.

No idea if I can figure out how to split it as mine are all in the one topic lol.... wish me luck!

Well, it looks like you sorted it.  It looks good.

I will go over later and edit my post to make it more of an introduction.

Thanks Sandy slowly but surely it's all taking shape.

As you can see I have changed the skin.

You will notice that there are a couple of links missing from the top of the board.  All missing links can be found in the dropdown menu when you click on your name on the navigation bar at the top of the board.

I would really appreciate it if you see anything that looks wrong in the skin to let me know so that I can fix or change it.  Cheers.

Tagging is activated on this board and if you want to know when you have been tagged in a post you will have to check in your Edit Profile - Notifications and make sure you have ticked

Your username tagged on a topic - in the tool bar.

To tag someone with a single name use @mention
To tag someone with a double name use @"mention me"

Two new things.

There are now two extra bits at the top of each post.

1)  The voting has been moved from the side of the post to the top, and we can now see how many votes any particular post has been given.

2) You can see a blue @ button, if you want to tag someone as you make a specific reply to them you can click that button instead of writing out the @member, and it will automatically add it for you into your reply post.  Tagging helps people that don't visit very often to find posts where there has been a specific reply to them.
