I've been putting off getting rid of my car for a couple of years now Geru. I don't use it enough to justify the expense but the convenience keeps me hanging onto it. It's very old and starting to cost more than it's worth so I will have to bite the bullet soon I expect. No way I can afford to replace it.

Sunny and about 13C today. Not bad but much cooler than April was. I'm doing some cleaning upstairs this morning but without our usual Monday lunchtime get together to spur me on I'm getting around to it very slowly. lol

Hi everyone.

It was overcast and muggy all day.
It finally began pouring rain a few minutes ago.

The state that I live in will be opening more on June 1st.
I'm still going to wear masks at work
and any public place I go.

Our apartment swimming pool is not going to open at all.
They posted a flyer saying it was remaining closed
for the Summer season this year, for everyone's safety.
Even though I love to go for a swim in the pool
or take my granddaughters swimming, I agree with the decision.

The Minnesota State Fair was cancelled this year, as well.
It's one of the biggest state fairs in the United States.
Again, even though it has been a tradition for our family to go,
I agree it should be closed this year.
With the huge attendance, there is no way to keep people safe.

Take care, everyone, and have a peaceful rest of the day.

Hi Kerri. A shame about the fair and the swimming but you can't argue with those decisions.

A rare, beautiful, sunny day here with just a gentle breeze. About 23C so as close to perfect as it can be for me. Bedding is drying outdoors which is always a bonus. The cat is fast asleep in a patch of sun and I've finished the other chores I had to do. Still only 10am so I'm looking forward to a lazy day doing whatever I feel like. Probably very little knowing me.

My granddaughter gave birth to a baby boy 6 days ago. Three weeks early but 6lbs 8ozs so a decent weight. Both home now and doing well. Declan James is his name. Second great grandson this year for me. Shows how old I'm getting!

I'll brave grocery shopping tomorrow.

All hell broke loose here, it seems.

A man, George Lloyd, was killed by a police officer
who had him on the ground with his knee on his neck
so the man couldn't breathe.
The man on the ground was pleading, saying
that he couldn't breathe.
The man died.
Bystanders filmed with their cell phones.
It was heartbreaking watching it on the news.

Since this happened, there have been peaceful protests,
but also riots, burning of buildings, charging
into stores and looting/destroying the inside of
the stores, breaking the glass windows of small
businesses.

I had MSNBC and CNN on the bedroom television
last night and woke up,
on and off through the night,
and watched the reports, the fires, the crowds.

After little sleep, I got up and went to work,
hoping there were no issues on
the highways/freeways
on the way to work.
On the way home, one of the highways was closed off
and I took different busy side streets to get to
the last freeway to get home.

The police say they didn't have the manpower
to stop the looting and the fires
that burned through the night.

Yet, they arrested a CNN reporter,
Omar Jimenez, and his crew on Friday morning.
While they were peacefully reporting.
Also caught on film.
The reporter was being very polite.
Just tell them they need to get out of the area!
But they arrested them.

A crazy few months.

Take care, everyone.

We saw all the footage here too Kerri. Awful to watch. While I don't condone the rioting and looting I can understand the anger over the incident. It looks like the unrest has spread to other areas of the country now too. I just hope we see more peaceful protests and less violence and vandalism which doesn't help the cause one bit.
