Researchers determine too much exercise can cause heart disease

I find this report hilarous because only the other week, I believe it was over on Martha's board, that I said "They will soon find that exercise is bad for us".

Interesting disparity between white and black men though. I'm curious what factors they're considering might cause that.

It does make one wonder.

We have all noticed for a long time how many young, supposedly, healthy athetes do die suddenly with hearts attacks for no apparent reason. Which is why, I suppose, they did the study.

I do know that too much strenuous exercise over a long period of time can also give one an enlarged heart as it tries to fight for the extra oxygen needed. Being obese and carrying all that extra fat around can also enlarge the heart.

I read many years ago a report from a Japanese Doctor. He was saying how every heart only has so many beats in it from birth to death, and the harder one exercises the more beats the heart is having during that exercising. Therefore those that strenously exercise regularly are actually making their lives shorter. How true this is I don't know.

I've read that before but I haven't seen any research on it so I've no idea how true it is. I do often think though that your joints and muscles can only take so much strain and battering in a lifetime.

Oh I'm absolutely sure of the joints and muscles only having a certain amount of usage too before they start giving in.

And again "everything in moderation" seems to be the way go even in regards to exercises!

I'm honestly beginning to think it's best not to read any bloody health report or how to eat reports etc, and just get on with what feels comfortable for us as individuals.

As you say, everything in moderation.  And, a little of what you fancy does you good.

These bloody so called experts lump us all into the same pot. But I think if you listen to your own body and stop pushing yourself into trying to be and do what they say we would be a lot happier and healthier. Our different genes makes us a mixing pot, and some of us are naturally active people, some of us are more sluggish naturally. Pushing oneself into something that isn't natural to us as an individual is where the trouble starts.

Worry about if we are eating x amount of fruit and veg, or too much red meat etc. etc., worrying about if we are getting enough exercise, makes us stress, and stress is the biggest killer of all.

Yep I agree and lets face it, all those so called healthy fresh foods are not so healthy these days as they are full with chemicals due to all the spraying of chemicals while they grow.
